Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location doesn't focus on survival. The player must move from room to room to complete a series of narrative objectives that change each night.
When a game ends, the player may be given an 8-bit minigame to play. In Sister Location, Circus Baby must give children cupcakes and an ice cream cone, killing a girl. Completing this minigame unlocks Night 5, a near-recreation of the original game's survival gameplay.
Completing all five nights unlocks pictures, blueprints, a map, and Circus Baby's cupcake minigame. Clearing all nights unlocks the non-canon Custom Night mode, which is set in the Night 5 secret room. The player can choose from several modes and difficulty settings, must conserve power and oxygen to survive. Completing these modes unlocks a series of 8-bit cutscenes that have been declared canon.
Unlocking both endings, completing the Circus Baby mini-game, and completing the hardest difficulty on each custom night preset earns four stars. Each custom night mode's preset unlocks a star.
